Afraid of the Amoral My friend is riding his bike across Africa and I am scared of the lions but not Ukraine or Putin not the divorce in the middle east not Washington nor Hollywood or how they both see the trafficking of bodies like mine not the homelessness not the interest rates or the war against raw milk not the illegality of mushrooms or the murderous fentanyl not these things that have always been not socialism or the death of capitalism not plastics contaminating our food not the suicidal fertility rates not the forgotten cities not the price of education nor the price of being educated these things don’t scare me it's the lions the sharks the bears the ones who were smart enough to never sign up for such a shit gig the ones who have never known Good from Evil These things that have always been are nothing next to real freedom served straight up my friend biking across Africa When was it that I lost my taste and became scared of the lawless instead of the law Afraid of the Amoral while the real threat is being encaged in a fabricated morality ruled by the higher ground from which demons now stand
