Just About Time

A poem written at the end just before the beginning

Just About Time

If there was a time for it
& someone told you it was 
you wouldn’t believe them
anyway. 

Fortunately 
there is no time
until you decide it
until you look at it
and make the distinction:
It’s time for this not that.

And even then
you might think the
time is wrong
but your time 
is more right 
than anyone else’s.

No two clocks are alike. 

So when you look back
wondering why it worked
or why it didn’t 
you cannot blame the time
but rather all the things
you chose to fill it with.

There is no time, 
or perhaps there is 
all the time at once—
It is merely the thing
used to describe a thing
that we wish we couldn’t
control.


Now in my naivety
I find it 
just about time
to stop blaming time
for my inability 
to capture it.
